As your Barrington, Rhode Island Maternity photographer I live to document this story… From the moment you first knew you were carrying your child, their story began to weave into yours. Lives connected, shared moments, shared history. The chapters you share will be short, for, in reality, you are teaching them to write their own story; a story that begins with the most beautiful kind of love.
Motherhood has many phases and one that certainly deserves to be documented is the time where you carry your baby inside, grow them, nurture them, and care for them from the womb.
Maternity Session FAQs
When's the best time to shoot a maternity session?
The best time to shoot is week 30-34 of your pregnancy; we want to see that cute little bump! If you're expecting 2+, best to shoot a little earlier (month 6 or 7.)
How long do maternity sessions last?
Maternity sessions take about 1-1.5 hours in total. This includes the time for outfits changes, walking to different spots if on location, taking breaks if necessary, etc.
What should I wear? Do you offer a client wardrobe?
There are a few gown options available for client use in the studio. There is a mix of simple, classic, and glam! We will go over these options during consultation and design. Gown rental is also an option for a fee!
What you should wear will depend on what you’d like your final images to look like. There are so many options! While I will provide a prep guide along with suggestions and guidance on color and style, you should be comfortable and feel amazing! The style and fit of the clothing you choose to wear for your session will make a difference in the final product!
Can my husband/partner and family join?
Absolutely! Immediate family and the baby’s siblings are welcome and encouraged to come!
What should they wear?
Just like your outfit, what your spouse/partner and family wears will make a difference in the final product, so their clothing should coordinate and be in line with yours.
Where do maternity sessions take place?
Maternity Sessions can take place in the AKP studio in Barrington, Rhode Island or on location. Fees may apply if the travel required is more than 25 miles from the studio.
What about hair and make-up?
Investing in hair and makeup is strongly suggested, but not mandatory! AKP works with Danielle Perry Beauty in Seekonk, MA who can perform your make up application right in the studio! If you choose to hire an artist or do yourself, I ask that hair and make-up be ready and done by the time we start the session. Also, your hands will more than likely be in a lot of shots, so don’t forget about your nails! Natural nails with neutral polish is timeless and photographs beautifully!
Is there parking available at the studio?
Yes! Parking in conveniently located right in front of the studio… and there are no stairs. Just walk in!
When will we get to see our pictures from a session?
Your Viewing & Ordering appointment will be done in person at the AKP studio about one week after your session. In that time, I will prepare your proofs for gallery presentation and image selection.
Can we purchase print products?
Yes! AKP is a full service studio. At the end of your experience, you will have heirloom quality physical, tangible prints, wall art, or products to personalize your home with and enjoy everyday for as long as you have them.
What about digital files?
Any purchased print, wall art, or album will come with the corresponding (web resolution) digital file(s). So you’ll get both!
